NCS IS OPTIMISTIC THAT UGANDA CAN WIN MORE MEDALS AT THE ONGOING COMMONWEALTH IN AUSTRALIA

National Council of Sports has applauded Team Uganda for the good performances at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

NCS General Secretary Mr. Nicholas Muramagi noted that the country still has the potential to achieve more success at the ongoing Games.

Uganda has already won two Gold and 1 Bronze at the Games courtesy of Joshua Cheptegei, Stella Chesang and Mercyline Chelangat.

More athletes in different categories are still advancing towards more achievements.

NCS EXTENDS ITS CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ARM TO FORMER FOOTBALLER

National Council of Sports (NCS) has urged the public to contribute towards the treatment of former footballer Ausi Kaaya, who is seriously ill and has been undergoing treatment for the last year.

NCS Assistant General Secretary Mr. David Katende on Friday paid a courtesy call to the former player at his home in Kawempe where he delivered UGX.1,000,000 contribution towards treatment and upkeep.

2017/18 THIRD QUARTER FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO NATIONAL SPORTS ASSOCIATIONS

Government/National Council of Sports has extended increased financial support to a tune of Shs.6,780,368,000 for the 2017/2018 Third Quarter (Jan-March 2018) to compliant National Sports Associations towards major upcoming sports events. The increase in support is as a result of an increase in government funding to the Sports Budget through National Council of Sports aimed at addressing the overwhelming demands for support to several sports activities/programmes.

TEAM UGANDA TO THE XXI COMMONWEALTH GAMES ANNOUNCED

Uganda will have a contingent of 69 athletes and eight officials at the Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast in Australia April 5-15, 2018.

Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) and National Council of Sports (NCS) announced the contingent at a joint press conference in Lugogo on Friday.

The athletes will take part in eleven disciplines including athletics, badminton, boxing, rugby, netball, shooting, cycling, squash, swimming, weightlifting, and table tennis.

NCS PARTNERS WITH CORSU HOSPITAL AND CANADIAN SPORTS MEDICINE TO CONDUCT MEDICAL SCREENING AND MEDICINE TRAINING

National Council of Sports in collaboration with CoRSU Hospital and Canadian Sports Medicine are carrying out Screening exercises for sports athletes/persons for sports injuries. The 2 days Screening exercises are set for Tuesday, 6th March 2018 and Thursday 8th March 2018 at the NCS Hockey Pitch and are a continuation of the previous clinics in 2016 and 2017.
