Mr. Paulo Nsibuka Luswata

COUNCIL MEMBER (2020-2022)

Mr. Luswata has been a keen sportsman right from his primary school days at Budo, to date. He has at varying levels of proficiency and competitiveness actively played football, lawn and table tennis, athletics, squash and swimming.

He, however, excelled most at Cricket, which he played as a top-order bat and leg spinner and was introduced to at a very early age as his father was a keen member of the cricketing fraternity and chaired the Uganda Cricket Association in the '70s. Mr. Luswata's club level cricket debut was at the age of 17, with Tornado Cricket Club, later joining Wanderers Cricket Club for four years before going back to Tornado Cricket Club as captain at age 21, and to which club he subscribes to-date.

Mr. Luswata graduated to the national team by the age of 20 and became the National team captain only four years later. In his 1st year as captain, in 1991, he successfully led the side to its 1st regional trophy (East African Quadrangular) in 25 years! He continued to captain both his club and the national team for another three years before work pressure curtailed his availability, but continued to turn out for club and country until 1996 when he prematurely hang up his bat.

He has remained close to cricket ever since and at club level a principal sponsor of Tornado Cricket Club and at the national level has served as chief national team selector and more recently, since 2017, as a member of the Uganda Cricket Association Board, representing Tornado Cricket Club. Hw lately keeps active by jogging and is a ken member of Kampala Hash House Harriers.

Professionally, Mr. Luswata is a financial consultant with over 12 years of banking experience and a further 18 years in private consultancy work as a finance specialist concentrating on productive and sustainable commercializing of development finance.

Mr. Luswata is also a member of the Case Hospital Board, a leading medical service provider in the country, and Chair of Metropol U Ltd Board, one of the only two licensed credit reference bureaus in Uganda.
