UGANDA SENDS 170 DELEGATION TO THE INAUGURAL EAST AFRICA COMMUNITY GAMES 2018, BURUNDI

A Ugandan contingent of 170 has today set off to Bujumbura, Burundi for the Inaugural East Africa Community Games slated for 16th to 30th August 2018. The Games shall run under the theme 'Fostering East African Community Integration and Peace through Sports' . The Games are set to attract the six partner states of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan and hosts Burundi. 

Uganda shall participate in Rugby, Netball, Boxing, Football (Men and Women), Athletics, Volleyball and Tennis.

During the flag off of the team at Lugogo, the NCS Chairman, Mr. Bosco Onyik noted that ‘The Games which are the inaugural edition, give the Ugandan athletes the opportunity to write history with the first goal or the first medal. As government, the games are important to bring the people in the region together.’

Government through National Council of Sports invested a tune of Ugx.900Million towards Uganda’s participation in the games.
