NCS ADVISES PRIORITIZED NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS TO MAINTAIN CONSISTENCE IN PERFORMANCE
National Council of Sports has advised Uganda Athletics Federation to maintain consistence in their outstanding performance and defend their position among the prioritized National Sports Associations that receive augmented funding by the Government in Uganda through National Council of Sports.
Uganda Athletics Federation, FUFA, FUBA, Uganda Boxing Federation, Uganda Netball Federation , Association of Uganda University Sports, Uganda Paralympic Committee and the Uganda Rugby Union have earned themselves priority status for government funding due to their consistence in good performance at international competitions.
National Council of Sports Assistant General Secretary - Technical, Mr. David Katende (left, in suite) advised this while flagging off a team of 17 athletes for the 5th Africa Cross Country Championships, Chlef –Algeria March 27, 2018.
Kipyeko Phillip (won silver medal), Chesang Stella, Bushendich Mande and Chemusto Janat who form part of the team represented Uganda at the 4th edition of the Africa Cross Country Championships in Cameroon in 2016.
Uganda Athletics Federation president Mr. Dominic Otuchet and the team captain Mr. Kipyeko Phillip promised to ensure good performances at the championships and return with medals.
The team includes:
Senior men(10km): Ayeko Timothy, Kipyeko Phillip, Wakana Nelson, Bushendich Mande, and Cherop Sam Moi.
Senior Women(10km): Chelangat Mercyline, Chesang Stella, Chemusto Janat, and Chebet Linet Toroitich
U-20 (Junior) Women (6km) Chelangat Sarah, Chemutai Peruth, Chemutai Belinda and Chebet Risper.
U-20(Junior) Men: Kiplangat Victor, Cherotich Denis, Kiplangat Hosea and Chekwurui Mathew.
Charles Mukiibi will lead the delegation as team Manager, accompanied by coach Njia Benjamin and Mrs Kifaya Musa.
