NCS SETS OUT FOR MONITORING AND EVALUATION EXERCISE OF NATIONAL SPORTS ASSOCIATIONS/FEDERATIONS, MARCH 2021

National Council of Sports (NCS) has today set out for the Monitoring and Evaluation Exercise of National Sports Associations/Federations from the 15th to 22nd March 2021. The exercise is an annual activity aimed at informing government/NCS on the status of the 51 National Sports Associations in Uganda as a requirement of the NCS Statutory Instruments 2014, No.38.

The NCS General Secretary, Dr. Patrick Ogwel on launching the exercise today at Lugogo, noted that, ‘This particular exercise will get us to appreciate the level of our sports to establish what the 51 National Sports Associations have delivered for themselves and whether they are operating within the confines and requirements of the Sports Statutory Instruments.’

Particular key issues to be established among others; establish whether the 51 National Associations are duly incorporated as per the Statutory Instruments basing on benchmarks;
• National Coverage of at least 3 quarters of the country
• Availability of Sports Facilities to promote the sport
• Ascertain the members register as an annual requirement
• Availability of Strategic Development Plans for the development of the sport
• Availability of Rules and Regulations for sports competitions
• Disclosure of sources of funding i.e Donations and Grants
• Annual Audited Accounts and Annual Reports

The exercise is a fact-finding mission for data collection and as such Sports Federations Presidents, General Secretaries, Treasurers, CEOs are expected to be available to interact with the NCS Technical Team headed by the Assistant General Secretary/Technical, Mr. David Katende.

The exercise has set in motion with a visit to Association of Uganda University Sports at Balintuma Road, Mengo where the NCS Team has been received by the Association’s President, Ms. Peninnah Kabenge before proceeding to the offices of Federation of Uganda Football Associations still in Mengo.
