FOOTBALL
Uganda secured its 5th consecutive qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations and joins 15 other countries including Burkina Faso, Cameron, Congo, DR Congo, Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Namibia, Niger, Rwanda, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe for the 2020 Africa Cup of Nations Tournament to be hosted in Cameroon. The Uganda Cranes beat Burundi’s Swallows 3-0 to qualify on 6-0 aggregate points.

Meanwhile, the Cranes started the 2021 AFCON qualification campaign dubbed “366 Back to Namboole with Cranes” with their first match against Burkina Faso on 12th November 2019 in Ouagadougou and the 2nd leg shall be played against Malawi at Namboole National Stadium on 17th November 2019.

On 27th October 2019, KCCA FC (Uganda) shall play Algeria’s Paradou Ac in the CAF CC Preliminary Round at the Startimes Stadium Lugogo at 4:00pm.

NETBALL
Uganda finished in third position at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations that were hosted in Cape Town, South Africa. South Africa lifted the overall trophy while Malawi finished in second position. The performance of Uganda was as below:

UNIVERSITY SPORTS
The Inaugural Africa University Championships 2019 started with the Rugby 7s event hosted in Kampala Uganda from the 19th to 20th October 2019. The University of Johannesburg (South Africa) emerged overall champions while Uganda Martyrs University (Uganda) was second and Makerere University (Uganda) was third. Ten (10) African universities took part in the championships.

The second session of the Badminton event was hosted in Mauritius from the 20th to 22nd October 2019 while the last event of Cross Country shall be hosted in Marrakesh, Morocco on the 09th November 2019.

Meanwhile the finals of the University Football League shall take place between Uganda University University and St. Lawrence University on Sunday, 03rd November 2019 at Namboole National Stadium at 3pm.

POOL
National Council of Sports this week flagged off the National Pool Teams (Men and Women) the Pool Cranes to South Africa for the AAPA Pool Championships from the 24th to 28th October 2019.

BASKETBALL
Kampala, Uganda is set to host the FIBA 3X3 Africa Cup 2019 from the 08th to 10th November 2019 at the Lugogo Hockey Grounds in categories of open and under 18 category for both men and women.
Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Djibouti, Madagascar, Nigeria, Cape Verde, Togo, Niger, Benin, Botswana, Egypt, Mauritius and Mali are expected to participate in this inaugural event.
