NCS to Join Breast Cancer, Dance Workout Lugogo Friday

As far as good causes go, there are few more important than creating awareness about healthy living, and sports should be quite central to this.
To that effect, the National Council of Sports (NCS) will be part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Dance Workout being organised the Uganda Women's Cancer Support Organisation (UWOCASO) this Friday (31st October).
The workout, themed Move For Her, will take place at the hockey grounds inside the Lugogo Sports Complex, as one of several different initiatives UWOCASO is using to create awareness about a scourge they insist is curable and not a death sentence.
NCS Assistant General Secretary (Admin), Jospeh Oluga, yesterday joined the UWOCASO leadership in briefing the different media houses about the initiative, at the Copper Chimney Restaurant in Lugogo. Alongside Oluga were NCS Marketing Officer Conrad Kaheru and Corporate Sales Executive Nuru Nakazzi, who is coordinating this activity. The UWOCASO leadership was represented, among others, by four ladies who are all breast cancer survivors; Board Chair Emeritus Rebecca Kiviiri Mayengo, current Board Chair Mercy Tayebwa, Board Secretary Joyce Namubiru and CEO Gertrude Nakigudde.
Backed by General Secretary Dr Bernard Patrick Ogwel, Oluga has implored NCS staff to participate in the screening not only for breast cancer, but also cervical cancer for the women and prostate cancer for the men. That screening will start on that morning at the same venue, and continue all the way up to the dance workout at 4 pm.
NCS encourages the rest of the sports fraternity, and indeed all Ugandans, to join in.
