Uganda is set to host the 2031 African Games after edging Nigeria in a bidding contest.

This decision will allow the continental Games return to eastern Africa for the first time in over 44 years following the 1987 Games in Kenya.

National Council of Sports (NCS) wishes to update the general public, sports stakeholders, and all National Sports Organisations/National Sports Federations and Nation/al Sports Associations (NSOs) on the status of the ongoing remedial compliance exercise being undertaken pursuant to the National Sports Act, Cap. 151 and the National Sports Regulations, 2025.

As a precursor to the grand commissioning of the Hoima City Stadium by His Excellency the President of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Museveni, on Christmas Eve, contractors SUMMA have today handed over the iconic multi-sports complex to the National Council of Sports (NCS).

Uganda has been represented at the African Union conference on sustainable sports development by the National Council of Sports (NCS) General Secretary Dr Bernard Patrick Ogwel.
The two-day African Union Commission workshop on the popularisation of the AU political framework for sports development, has been held in Djibouti in the horn of Africa, and has been attended by Directors of Sports from the 24 countries in the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Development Region 4.
The workshop has also aimed at strengthening cooperation among AU member states.
